GNC Store Technology Deployment Technician in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
This position is responsible for executing all store technology deployment activities to support both Company and Franchise Store Systems applications. Deployment activities include assisting with quality assurance testing, hardware distribution, network updates, documentation, Service Desk knowledge transfer, installation of equipment through field technicians or store personnel, and status reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
Implement all releases of software and hardware to the field under the supervision of the Manager of Store Technology Deployment. Update and maintain a database of software releases, hardware models, serial numbers, etc.
Work with vendor technicians to manage the infrastructure maintenance of store cabling (CAT5e, etc), to meet store voice and data network requirements
Provide input regarding the quality assurance and usability testing for software changes to ensure all system software is functioning in a manner that is acceptable to the stores. Recommend course of action when usability problems are discovered.
Maintain working relationships with all vendors of hardware, software, and telecommunications, as well as providers of staging and installation services.
Monitor, reconcile, review and code equipment invoices for accuracy.
Participate in the development, distribution, and monitoring of all new implementation procedures. Ensure compliance and report any non-compliance to management.
Provide daily and weekly status reporting to communicate project installation progress, productivity, and problem areas to the Manager of Store Technology Deployment. Take corrective action, where possible, to ensure that all activities are completed in a time frame that meets the business objectives of the corporation.
Maintain a complete operational knowledge of Store System equipment. This includes all combinations of hardware and software configurations used by the company.
Contribute to Standard Operating Procedure manual for Store Technology Deployment team members.
Perform incident investigation and resolution. Enter, update, and close incidents in the IT Service Management System.
Associate's Degree in Information Systems or Business Management
One year or more of end-user technology support experience
Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or Business Management
Retail store experience or retail technology deployment/support experience
Skills and Abilities
Strong communication skills (verbal and written), required to provide direction and answer questions during deployments.
Good organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Proficiency with use of database applications for data maintenance.
Interpersonal skills required to deal politely, courteously, and patiently with all personality types.
Work Environment / Travel / Physical Demands
Normal office environment.
Ability to effectively direct end-users or technicians via a telephone conversation.
Ability to work various schedules including evenings and weekends.
Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
