GNC Store Technology Deployment Coordinator in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating and executing all store system implementation activities to support both Company and Franchise Store Systems applications. Deployment activities begin with cost analysis projections and also include quality assurance testing, hardware distribution, network updates, documentation, Service Desk knowledge transfer, and installation of equipment through field technicians or store personnel. Status reporting is provided for both IT management and the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinate the activities of GNC store technology deployment technicians and vendor personnel performing Store Systems deployment functions with an understanding of Corporate and Franchise store procedures.Participate in planning meetings with Store Operations and Construction as required.

  • Plan, schedule, and develop work plans for all Store System installation and upgrade projects under the supervision of the Manager of Store Technology Deployment. Ensure projects are completed correctly and on time.

  • Schedule the provisioning of voice/data network devices and with respect to moves, adds, deletes, and changes. Work with the network team and network vendors to maintain and monitor systems to ensure constant availability, adequate capacity, and good response time and system performance while ensuring recoverability.

  • Implement all releases of software and hardware to the field under the supervision of the Manager of Store Technology Deployment. Update and maintain a database of software releases, hardware models, serial numbers, etc.

  • Guide the work of vendor technicians via telephone instructions to manage the infrastructure maintenance of store cabling (CAT5e, etc), to meet store voice and data network requirements.

  • Guide the work of store associates via telephone instructions as they install or replace computer equipment, computer peripherals, or network equipment.

  • Provide input regarding the quality assurance and usability testing for software changes to ensure all system software is functioning in a manner that is acceptable to the stores. Recommend course of action when usability problems are discovered.

  • Maintain working relationships with all vendors of hardware, software, and telecommunications, as well as providers of staging and installation services.

  • Monitor, reconcile, review and code equipment invoices for accuracy and ensure costs are within budget.

  • Develop, distribute, and monitor all new implementation procedures. Ensure compliance and report any non-compliance to management.

  • Develop daily reporting and weekly reporting to communicate project installation progress, productivity, and problem areas to the Manager of Store Technology Deployment. Take corrective action, where possible, to ensure that all activities are completed in a time frame that meets the business objectives of the corporation.

  • Liaison with Construction, Divisional Offices, RFC's, RSD's, Retail Operations, and Franchising to ensure proper implementation project communications.

  • Coordinate with the Construction department to ensure that Store System physical requirements are properly designed into all new store and remodeling plans.

  • Maintain a complete operational knowledge of Store System equipment. This includes all combinations of hardware and software configurations used by the company.

  • Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedure manual for Store Technology Deployment team members.

  • Investigate and resolve incidents. Enter, update, and close incidents in the IT Service Management System.

Job Specifications

Minimum

  • Associate's Degree in Information Systems or Business Management

  • One year or more of technology / telecommunications deployment coordination

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or Business Management

  • Retail store experience or retail technology deployment/support experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), ability to build and communicate a plan, also required to provide direction and answer questions during deployments.

  • Very good organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and industry standard personal computer hardware.

  • Understanding of computer networking and telecommunications services, with ability to discern the optimal network service choices for GNC stores.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

  • Proficiency with use of database applications for data maintenance.

  • Interpersonal skills required to deal politely, courteously, and patiently with all personality types.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • No direct reports, but coordinates the activities of others

Work Environment / Travel / Physical Demands

  • Normal office environment.

  • Ability to effectively direct end-users or technicians via a telephone conversation.

  • Ability to work various schedules including evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
