GNC Senior Manager--Social Media in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Responsible for all Social Media efforts, from strategy and planning to implementation and analysis. Own the development of Social Media activation strategies and creative campaigns to drive positive news coverage and GNC customers' brand recognition and communication via the social web. Strong mix of managing social media platforms as well as establishing and running influencer communities and brand ambassador programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop, communicate and gain business support for comprehensive social marketing strategy, goals, budget and calendar.

  • Develop, deploy, manage, and analyze social marketing programs and technologies to create innovative and creative campaigns in support of product, brand, and marketing initiatives across social networks.

  • Function as brand steward across all social platforms.

  • Own the acquisition of and manage the social community for GNC including: GNC Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, and the GNC blog.

  • Develop and engage with Influencer communities to support communications with our strategic customer segments.

  • Develop ventures and partnerships with relevant external partners to create breakthrough and newsworthy Social Media endeavors.

  • Post content and be highly responsive to comments and feedback. Listen to customer feedback and relay stories to disseminate across traditional and new media channels.

  • Continually test and optimize campaigns

  • Build and manage metrics reporting and analysis - monitor all web analytics on a weekly basis (e.g. social listening, sentiment, Facebook insights, Twitter trends, etc.) and provide reports of growth and other activity.

  • Develop, grow, and actively participate in GNC's online community.

  • Manage social customer service and define processes for escalation and response.

  • Manage relationships with external media agencies and service providers.

  • Performs social listening, and overall community & reputation management.

  • Manages governance over all social accounts.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Specifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, PR, or related field

  • 6+ years of Marketing, Communications, or PR experience with at least 4 years of strategic Social Media experience

  • Thrive in a fast-changing, collaborative environment where people are driven, enthusiastic, and not afraid to take risks.

  • Strong strategic thinker and ability to formulate business strategy.

  • Demonstrated passion for the Social Media and digital content space.

  • Strong consumer insight and commitment to exceptional customer service.

  • Ability to emotionally connect with customers verbally and in writing.

  • Outstanding attention to detail.

  • Extremely savvy and knowledgeable of social media trends, innovations, and technology.

  • Solid understanding of how to drive consumer engagement within online social networks.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective internal and external relationships and influence change.

  • Omni-channel retail brand marketing or digital strategy experience preferred.

  • Have proven experience overseeing community management teams and brand ambassadors.

  • Experience in creating campaigns and utilizing multiple social platforms to build awareness, engage new and existing customers and increase conversion via site, store and other potential points of purchase.
