GNC Instructional Designer/Training Specialist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The Training Specialist is responsible for writing, proofing and producing training materials specific to GNC,
including our products, selling, customer service, nutrition, operations, company policies and procedures and merchandising, in accordance with adult learning and instructional design principles.
The Training Specialist will produce materials for delivery through print, classroom/workshop, and/or multimedia formats, as specified through needs requirements.
He/she is responsible for assisting with maintaining the Learning Management System (LMS) and all training materials and provides reporting of training activities and program usage. The Training Specialist will also coordinate with internal stake holders and vendors on the development of training materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design and write materials to educate, train and inform GNC associates of all levels in areas such as product knowledge, customer service and selling, nutrition and other training, as assigned
Create eLearning, training documents and job aids; publish through our LMS and develop content through new technologies as they become available
Must have the ability to demonstrate or learn the following software programs and skill sets for creating training programs: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, Illustrator, Articulate, Premier Pro, After Effects and Photoshop, and other web-based platforms
Assist with registrations and investigate and solve issues in the LMS
Assist with various educational communications related to product knowledge and skill development
Effectively collaborate with the training team and other departments to gather training content
Assist with administrative tasks as related to the training team as assigned
Training content design and development required (i.e. eLearning, Documents, Job Aids)
Previous LMS experience required
Knowledge of basic nutrition preferred
Previous Retail experience preferred
Handling multiple projects at once required
Bachelor's Degree in related field, or 2-4 years equivalent experience in related fields. Related fields include Instructional Design, Graphic Design and Multimedia developmental design and production
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for all audiences
Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at one time
In-depth knowledge of adult learning principals
Understanding of Instructional Design
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
Experience or training in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint software programs
Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Articulate, Premier Pro, After Effects and Photoshop
Experience designing web pages, using HTML or interface software preferred.
