GNC GNFS Senior Staff Accountant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The GNFS Staff Accountant I is responsible for all aspects of financial accounting (i.e. accurate and timely journalization and analysis of financial information, reporting, etc).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the timely and accurate journalization of all assigned accounts and transactions to the general
Reconcile designated general ledger accounts to the summary trial balance on a monthly basis. Provide reporting of accounts as needed.
Calculate, analyze, verify and report financial data and financial statements to the franchisee on a regular basis.
Thoroughly analyze trends and proactively provide guidance to franchisees in the understanding of all financial information.
Ensure all physical inventories are scheduled with Loss Prevention Department.
Maintain and assist with enhancements to the GNFS program.
Regularly maintain staff accounting knowledge with periodic training sessions.
Participate in the training of interns and new hires as well as acting as a mentor.
Assist in preparation of financials for opening and closing of new stores.
Assist the Accounting Supervisor with reviewing the Staff Accountant's files and provide feedback to the staff on their work.
Independently provide guidance to the group on issues or questions they have regarding file preparation and accounting principles.
Perform process related tasks for the entire group.
Work on special projects as needed.
Effectively communicate and work with other departments within GNC.
Promote and sell the GNFS service to new franchise store owners.
Minimum 2+ years of general accounting experience.
Preferred 3+ years of general accounting experience.
Bachelor Degree in Accounting
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required distributing accurate information and answering inquiries efficiently.
Interpersonal skills required to effectively work with franchisees.
Analytical ability required to research and analyze financial statements and accounts for accuracy.
Ability to organize work load to research and answer questions and to complete duties in a timely manner. Must be able to perform under time sensitive deadlines.
Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Access) required to update and maintain accounts and to produce necessary reports.
Able to work with sensitive information and to maintain confidentiality.
Independently make accurate and informed decisions regarding accounting principles and procedures
