GNC Quality Engineer in Greenville, South Carolina

Job Summary

The Quality Engineer is responsible to maintain procedural documentation related to the owned quality program, communication of the effectiveness of the owned quality program, strategy for improvement of the owned program. Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen lean methods, etc. Interface with Customer, Product Development and Manufacturing to ensure transfer of new products or revisions are in accordance with approved data and meet customer specifications. Will also support Quality team in various other quality related functions to include review of documents, internal audits, preparation of reports and improvement teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, or minimize costs

  • Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities

  • Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards.

  • To establish metrics on what is important to measure, how to measure, how to communicate and what actions to take based on the data


  • Supports assigned areas to enhance quality

  • Ensures quality requirements outlined in 3rd party quality agreements are achieved and reviews new quality agreements

  • Conducts Annual Product Reviews where required by 3rd party quality agreements

  • Issues periodic quality trend reports and recommends / follows up on associated corrective and preventive actions

  • Assists in drafting and executing qualification / validation protocols as needed

  • Support Quality team in other quality related functions to include review of documents, internal audits, and improvement teams

Support of manufacturing, packaging and other departments to reduce waste and drive improvement and understanding of processes

Job Specifications



  • Minimum of 3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment as a engineer, black belt or supervisor

  • Preferred

  • 3 years of validation or related experience in a cGMP regulated industry

  • 2 years experience with TGA, EU, and/or other applicable international regulations

  • 2 years statistical analysis experience

  • 2 years dietary supplement industry, pharmaceutical or food manufacturing industry experience



  • Four-year degree in scientific field Preferred


  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, biology, chemistry, microbiology or bio-engineering

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

  • ASQ certification


  • Highly organized with strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to influence organizations and drive improvements and process understanding

  • Proficient in software programs applicable to trend analysis (Excel, Word, statistical programs a plus).

  • Demonstrated professional communication abilities

  • Strong math (statistical), root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule dependent on production demands and timelines

Ability to travel overnight to domestic and international locations
